I was contacted by First Thursday on Main in conjunction with SC United FC to take a soccer ball and create a piece of art for a scavenger hunt in a special promotion of United and Liverpool's soccer game on August 3rd, 2024. Twenty local artists were chosen and I felt completely honored (and excited!) to be one of them.
Looking at the ball, I knew I wanted to do something big, completely ridiculous, and food related. Then I had it...a GIANT meatball! I bounced around from medium to medium to make this idea come into fruition. There was paint, ceramics, air dry clay, silver leafing, spray paint, glue, prayers, and score! The giant meatball was completely. ' Chef's Kiss!'
The adorably sweet family that collected it traveled all the way from Florida. It was an honor to meet them and get a quick photograph before they were on their way.
I enjoy projects like this so much. I loe adding to the vibrancy of my small city., welcoming collectors of my work that may have not usually been collectors, and I love getting people out as a community with art in mind.
