Wishing you a festive season wrapped in love and topped with joy!
It's finally time to deck the halls and what better way is there to do it than with one of a kind ornaments? I have been diligently working away since before Halloween. I know what your thinking, but such is the life of an artist trying to stay ahead of the game.
For my 2023 Holiday collection think victorian dried fruits, figgy pudding, a little cottagecore sprinkled in, and german pickles. All things food! With my solo show "Be Our Guest" opening for the holidays, the season of gathering and food were definitely on my mind. I wanted to play on that. I have always been drawn to dried citrus on evergreen foilage. Such a simple object can create such beauty. Traditionally oranges were symbolic of a gift of gold. In addition to oranges, you will find pears, apples, pomegranates, figs, mushrooms, and pickles. I can definitely see the tradition of the German Pickle ornament being played with these pickles! And since my slugs are having their time to shine, each is adorned with a leopard slug. I chose to keep the slugs uniform in design so each ornament spoke to the one another. They can all work as a set or shine on their own. No two pieces are alike. Each is hand cut, embellished, sculpted, and glazed. The ornaments are finished with vintage textile printed ribbon, others with soft velvet, and rustic frayed velvet adding and elegant, gentle, and romantic touch.
I am always over joyed to release these small Christmas collections and to share them with you. A tiny token of my art world to tuck away thoughtfully on your tree year after year.
